Introduction

A new family of Inuits has moved into the frozen tundra town of Iceville. They have been staying with other families in the area, but the time has come to build them their own shelter. Can the community members come together to help them in this project?

The Task

After you have studied the information in this WebQuest you will be able to answer the following questions and do the following activities:
What kind of shelter does this Inuit family need?
What resources will be required to construct their home?
Draw up plans for the new shelter.
Will weather conditions need to be considered in this project?
Organize the construction.
Build the shelter.
Can a community build an Inuit home?

The Process

To accomplish the task,
First you'll be assigned to a team of 3-5 students.
Next you need to brainstorm about the shelter and supplies you'll need (write it down).
Then create a drawing of plans for the shelter.
Help organize the larger group for construction.
Work together to build the shelter.
Write a personal summary of how you think the process went.

Resources

Snow (sorry Florida & due southerners;) and all the other stuff you think you'll need!

Evaluation

You will be evaluated on how you work together in your group, on your plans and how your shelter holds up, and on your personal summary.
